Odontoglossum vexillarium Rchb. f., Gard. Chron. 901. 1867.

TYPE: A friend of ours, near London, got the flower for six days's space in order to lend it to us, after having given his promise...and hope the wonderful beauty will one day appear at South Kensington (holotype, W; illustration of type).
